Many years ago, my very smart, professional, and kind hygienist recommended that I purchase an electric toothbrush to save my gums. My problem, like many, was aggressive brushing (see, not correct) with a non-electric toothbrush. Seven years later, with a twice-daily routine of brushing my teeth with my Oral-B Genius X Luxe electric toothbrush, my gums are not receding, my teeth are cavity-free, and my breath is fresh and clean. I initially tried a Phillips Sonicare Electric brush, but did not find it cleaned as well as the Oral-B.
Essential to practice care when using any Electric toothbrush by isolating a tooth at a time to focus on (i.e., hold the brush head static over two front teeth for 30 seconds before moving to the next tooth(s) to repeat the static hold). Avoid moving the brush head over multiple teeth in a quick fashion, as this will not effectively clean teeth, clear tartar, or prevent cavity development. Remember to brush your tongue each morning using the same teeth-cleaning methodology mentioned above. By scraping or brushing your tongue, you will remove the layers of bacteria that cause stinky breath. Taste – As the bacteria cover your taste buds, you may find that the flavors of your food are muted. Cleaning your tongue can expose more of your taste buds, allowing you to enjoy more nuanced flavors in your food.

We have used Oral B electric toothbrushes for many years and have been very happy with their cleaning ability and ease of use. Our last one was finally on its last legs, so we upgraded to this model. It is WAY more powerful than our previous one, so it has taken time to get used to. Also, we thought the travel case was a nice idea – as we travel (or used to pre-CoVid). However, after getting it, we realized it might not be worth the extra money. We still have to pack the power cord – just not the little round charging unit. That is all you save in packing space. I was hoping we could add our toothpaste or floss to the travel case, but we cannot. In retrospect, I would not get the version with a travel case and carry the toothbrush base and charging cube separately; I could pack them around other items in my suitcase. Yes, there is an additional USB port to charge my iPhone, but I already packed those items. For us, packing the toothbrush handle, the toothbrushes, the power cord, and the small charging stand are easier to pack. It would have saved us $50 or so. But the toothbrush is great, and I recommend it to anyone. I can’t speak to the Bluetooth connectivity or their program as we do not use it.
