John Bonham leaning over drum Kit

Fool in the Rain emerged from one of rock history’s most unlikely inspirations – Jimmy Page watching soccer matches during Argentina’s 1978 World Cup and becoming mesmerized by the samba rhythms pulsing through the stadiums. What started as casual television viewing transformed into Led Zeppelin’s boldest musical experiment, as Page convinced his bandmates to abandon their familiar heavy rock formula and dive headfirst into the territory of Latin percussion. The result was a track that sounds like nothing else in their catalog: John Bonham’s drums dance between thunderous rock power and intricate Brazilian syncopation. At the same time, Robert Plant’s vocals ride the complex rhythmic waves with surprising ease.

Who was the creative force behind this jumpy little world music sortie? Could it be that Robert Plant had Paul Simon’s yearnings for a broader world music horizon? Is this limiting the input of the other members? Not! The story goes that Jimmy Page got the idea for the Samba beat from a 1978 World Cup soccer tournament. Argentina was the host country, and Page heard a lot of samba rhythms while watching. John Bonham (rest in raucous peace) has a difficult-to-reproduce percussive role in this jumpy little Samba pack mule. What do our esteemed music critics love most about this track? The pounding drums, Plant’s vocals, lyrics, bass, or Jimmy Page’s solos?  It finally comes down to the infectious Samba beat, so credit goes to the Argentinian Futbol rhythms and, of course, the Bonzo execution!

We want you to know

Echo Auto connects to Alexa through the Alexa app on your phone and uses your existing smartphone data plan. Carrier charges may apply. Check if your vehicle’s air vents are compatible with the included mount.

Will this connect to my car?

Echo Auto connects to most cars that support Bluetooth to play music or have an auxiliary input. Check if your vehicle is compatible with Echo Auto via Bluetooth.

I was given a beta test tryout of Alexa Auto last year and utilized it on several long car trips. My 2013 Honda does not connect directly via Bluetooth to the Echo Auto; instead, we secure the echo with a cable through the auxiliary portal. My smartphone is the Bluetooth connection conduit for Alexa and my Bluetooth port, adding data usage on long car trips. One important caveat: Best to utilize a home wireless network during the initial setup steps. This initial setup at home will save you countless hours/headaches when remotely establishing the initial setup. The initial setup process is quick and easy with following instructions via your automobile Bluetooth system. My recommendation applies to the very first time you set up Alexa auto in your car.
