John Barleycorn” is a British folk song. The character of John Barleycorn in the song is a personification of the important cereal crop barley and of the alcoholic beverages made from it, beer and whiskey. In the song, John Barleycorn is represented as suffering indignities, attacks and death that correspond to the various stages of barley cultivation, such as reaping and malting.

My first listen to “Up There,” by Trevor Hall from Fruitful Darkness, by my friend, Rick Ramirez, in the living room of our mutual friend Vasu. Rick indicated that we should listen closely to this new Trevor track as it described Trevor’s profound visit with Sri Siddhi Ma. Rick said the experience of listening to the track was very much like a visit with Ma. Rick was correct. Since then, I have listened in quiet reverence to this track while either visualizing Ma in my mind or looking at the image featured in this header
