It has taken us far too long, 7 years almost, to feature a tribute to our most deserving American Jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald. Perhaps we deferred due to the plethora of living singers calling for our attention first. This may have something to do with our chief editor’s advancing age, the onslaught of early dementia. Regardless, please accept our full apologies for taking this long.
The band, whose roots trace back to 1973 at the Rhode Island School of Design, fused the spirit of punk with intellectual rigor, creating an auditory experience unlike any other. David Terry’s drawings and paintings range from evocative landscapes and portraits to intricate, multi-image montages. In addition to Terry’s work in Fine Art, he illustrates regularly for a number of national magazines and newspapers. Since 1997, he has completed 26 published bookcovers, many advertising pieces, and numerous privately commissioned works. All of the work is done on paper. Tinting/painting is done with watercolor, pastel pencils, oil pencils, and inks.
